Find out more about the changes your body experiences before, during and after pregnancy with the articles listed below: Postpartum Care
The postpartum period begins after the delivery of the baby and ends when the mother's body has returned as closely as possible to its pre-pregnant state. This period usually lasts 6 to 8 weeks. The amount of time required for this process varies, depending on the type of delivery you had and other associated medical conditions.

The postpartum period involves the mother progressing through many changes, both emotionally and physically, while learning how to deal with all the changes and adjustments required in becoming a new mother. It is normal to feel overwhelmed by the new schedules, new house rules, and new disorder in your life.

Menstrual Cycle
The first menstual period following delivery is usually delayed by breastfeeding. Most will experience their first period within 7 to 9 weeks. Nursing mothers frequently resume menstrual periods by 12 weeks, but some do not until they have completely stopped breastfeeding. Egg production may return before the first menstrual period.

Emotional Changes
Baby Blues or post partum depression can affect a new mom. No amount of study and practice can prepare you for parenthood. From the moment the first baby is born, your life changes forever. It is normal to feel overwhelmed with your new responsibilities. As a new mother, you will feel joy, fear, confusion, exhaustion and love. The intensity of feelings after having a child cannot be compared to any other life experience.
