Orthopaedic Center of Excellence

Baptist Regional Medical Center recently opened its Orthopaedic Center of Excellence which will cater to patents dealing with problems of the muscloskeletal system, including arthritis or joint replacement.  A consultant came to work with the staff at BRMC to make sure that all the components were in place to have a successful Orthopaedic program.  BRMC is now deemed as a center of excellence.

A room within the hospital has been set aside for education and patient services for the center. Patients will receive a 55-page booklet which will explain about their surgery, its effects and excercises they can do to help their healing process.

Our goal is to educate the patient so they will know exactly what will happen to them throughout the process.  The pain is addressed quickly so they can get up the day of the surgery and they are released after three days.  They are then either able to go to rehab or home.   The process has been streamlined so the patient is able to receive education about the surgery, have their blood work completed prior to the day of their surgery. Then on the day of surgery, they are able to go straight back to the operating room.

Six private patient rooms are reserved for patients recovering from joint replacement surgery (total knees or hips).  If you would like a tour of the facility prior to surgery or additional information, please contact Vernon Taylor, coordinator for Baptist Regional's Orthopaedic Center of Excellence.
