surgical services are provided, including eye, ear, nose/throat, gynecology, orthopaedic, general plastic, urology, dental and the latest in minimally-invasive, laparoscopic procedures. Our programs and facilities are designed to make your surgical experience a positive one and include:
- Preadmission Program. Baptist Regional Medical Center's preadmission program allows patients to preregister over the telephone or by mail. With this program, patients simply verify the information upon arrival and are escorted directly to surgery. In addition, all patients are offered financial counseling for non-covered expenses.
- Pre-surgery Work-up. Your surgeon will order a series of routine tests that must be done prior to surgery. The tests may include lab work, chest X-ray, EKG or urinalysis.
- Patient Education. When you come in to Baptist Regional Medical Center for presurgical testing, a registered nurse will teach you what to expect when coming in for surgery. Your physician will provide specific information about the type of surgery you are having and your recovery.
- Family Waiting Room. For the convenience of your family, Baptist Regional Medical Center has a family waiting room for surgical patients on the ground floor. Pay phones and restrooms are available and coffee is provided. Other beverages and snacks can be purchased in the Crystal Garden Dining Room.

Baptist Regional Medical Center's Radiology department strives to provide the latest, up-to-date technology. We provide a comprehensive line of high quality outpatient services, including:
- Diagnostic Radiology. All general radiology services (x-rays and fluoroscopy) are offered. The hospital recently opened an all new digital multipurpose room that allows us to perform regular fluoroscopic exams as well as interventional angiography procedures much more rapidly with less radiation exposure to the patient. The room does not use conventional x-ray film, but stores information digitally on a computer and is later hard copied on a laser printer. We have also opened an all digital multipurpose room that allows us to perform conventional x-rays as well.
-
Digital Mammography. Digital mammography uses essentially the same processes as conventional mammography, but the system is equipped with a digital receptor and a computer instead of film cassette. With digital mammography an electronic image is taken and stored directly in a computer system.
-
Nuclear Medicine. We provide the latest technology available, including a nuclear cardiology exam. In addition, one of our physicians is licensed to administer Strontium 89, a radioactive material used to treat cancer patients with painful bone metastases.
- CT Scans. Baptist Regional Medical Center has recently purchased a spiral CT scanner which allows us to scan patients' chests and abdomens in a single breath hold, as compared to the old scanner that required 30 to 45 minutes of scanning time. Also, with the new CT scanner, we have the ability to perform bone densitometry measurements, used to evaluate patients for osteoporosis.
- Ultrasound. We offer a full range of diagnostic studies, including obstetric and gynecological studies.
- Breast Diagnostic Services, including mammography and ultrasound. New R2 ImageChecker for early breast cancer detection is now available.
- MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) Services.Baptist Regional Medical Center provides Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) services at the Outpatient Diagnostic Center, located at 60 Bryan Boulevard, Suite 100, Corbin, KY.
