Respiratory Care Services

For most people, breathing is second nature.  But for those who suffer from breathing problems caused by injury or illnesses such as Asthma, Emphysema and Bronchitis, each breath can be a major accomplishment.  Baptist Regional Medical Center's Cardiopulmonary Department provides inpatient and outpatient Respiratory Care Services to help diagnose and treat breathing disorders to help you breath easier.  Staffed around the clock by Registered and Certified Respiratory Therapists, the department provides a range of services including:

Pulmonary Function Lab

Arterial Blood Gas Lab

Mechanical Ventilation

Respiratory Protection Plan

BRMC employees may be required to enter environments where airborne contaminants may be present, exposing them possibly to respiratory hazards during routine or emergency operations.  the purpose of this program is to protect BRMC employees by reducing or eliminating occupational exposures to hazardous airborne contaminants and disease.  Engineering controls, such as ventilation and substitution of less toxic materials, will be BRMC's first line of defense.  When engineering controls are not feasible for identified airborne hazards then respirators will be used for personal protection.
