Since 2002, Baptist Regional Medical Center has operated a dedicated Outpatient Diagnostic Center that was the first in the region. The center houses some of the latest innovations in diagnostic equipment including a semi-open state-of-the-art 1.5 tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) unit capable of providing higher quality diagnostic images than ususally found in an open architecture unit. The center also contains high definition ultrasound, computer axial tomography (CT) adn digital, routine x-rays. Baptist Regional Medical Center was the first hospital in Kentucky to purchase a 40-slice Brilliance CT that has the abilityh to reconstruct up to 40 images per second. This will bring significant improvement in the clinical area of cardiac imaging, pulmonary imaging, brain perfusion for stroke assessment and CT angiography.

This year, Baptist Regional Medical Center entered into a partnership with Oak Tree Mangement, Inc. for the development of a Long Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH) to be operated within the existing hosptial. This 25 bed unit will provide care for those patients requiring an extended acute care stay.

Baptist Regional Medical Center formed a Customer Satisfaction Council with representation from the Tri-county area of Laurel, Knox and Whitley counties. The purpose of the council is to integrate the community goals with the hospital's goals thereby improving customer satisfaction. This collaboration supports the Baptist Healthcare System mission to continue our Christian heritage of service and to enhance the health of the people and communities we serve.
