Cumberland Valley Physicians Organization, Baptist Regional Medical Center and Marymount Medical Center have formed Cumberland Healthcare, Inc., a preferred provider organization to give area employers a local alternative for meeting the health care benefit needs of their employees.

A preferred provide organization (PPO) is a network of health care providers that gives patients and employers lower rates if they use the providers in the network. The Cumberland Healthcare, Inc. plan is available to any employer who currently has or intends to offer a self-funded ERISA plan. Currently, the plan is available in 19 Kentucky counties, including:

• Jefferson
• Knox
• Larue
• Laurel
• Marion
• Meade
• Nelson
• Pulaski
• Rockcastle
• Shelby

In the future, the plan may be offered in additional counties.

Baptist Regional Medical Center

Cumberland Valley Physicians Organization, LLC
Cumberland Valley Physicians Organization was formed in 1995 by physicians in Whitley, Laurel and Knox counties in Kentucky. The organization, which represents some 50 independent practitioners, is dedicated to the goal of protecting the professional autonomy of the area's practicing physicians, while ensuring access to participation in health care plans from out-of-state insurers and agencies. Member physicians include practitioners in all primary care areas, as well as most medical specialties.
