Sewing Seeds of Kindness Ministry

Volunteer, Brenda Ketron, at Baptist Health Corbin has a unique ministry within the hospital setting.  Besides meeting and greeting patients and family members bright and early each Tuesday morning and keeping everyone informed and updated on the patient's progress through surgery, she offers the patient something unique and comforting.  Brenda creates pocket prayer quilts.  The tiny quilts are simple squares of cloth sewn together with a small cross inserted inside. A small card is attached with a pin and ribbon with a prayer typed on it telling the recipient to place the quilt inside their pocket or purse and touch the cross throughout the day to remind them of God's love and grace also suggests praying for others and passing it on to someone else in the form of this tiny gift. Patients are very appreciative to have a oneĀof-a kind pocket prayer quilt of their own. "It's such a blessing to me to see the look on the patient's or family member's face and the thank you they give me."  It's just one more example at Baptist Health Corbin of "treating you like family."
