Powers named interim administrator at Baptist Regional Medical Center

CORBIN, KY -- Anthony W. Powers, vice president of patient services, has been named interim administrator at Baptist Regional Medical Center.

He replaces John Henson, who resigned November 1 to pursue other opportunities. Henson closed out an 18-year career with the 273-bed hospital, beginning his career there in 1993 as president/CEO.

Under Henson’s leadership, Baptist Regional was the state’s only hospital to receive the Governor’s Gold Quality Award and certification to ISO 9001, an internationally recognized quality management system.  During his tenure, Baptist Regional Medical Center was also nationally recognized for various other quality awards and achievements.

Powers is a 13-year veteran at Baptist Regional, joining the hospital in 1998 as a staff nurse in 1998. He was promoted to director of Cardiac Care in 2000 and to vice president of patient services in 2003.

Baptist Regional Medical Center is one of five hospitals owned and operated by Baptist Healthcare System, Inc. Other hospitals in the system are: Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington; Baptist Hospital East, Louisville; Western Baptist Hospital, Paducah; and Baptist Hospital Northeast, La Grange.

Baptist Healthcare also manages Hardin Memorial Hospital and Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center.
