Adolescent Psychiatric and Partial Program

The Adolescent Psychiatric and Partial Program at Baptist Health Corbin provides inpatient treatment and partial hospitalization services for adolescents ages 12-17 in need of psychiatric care and/or substance abuse treatment.

Like adults, many adolescents suffer mental illnesses such as severe depression, psychotic disorders or personality disorders.  Others may become defiant, withdrawn or even suicidal.  Drug and alcohol addictions are becoming more common and serious among teenagers and can easily destroy young lives. The Trillium Center's Adolescent Psychiatric Program is directed toward helping adolescents increase their self-esteem and take responsibility for their behaviors without turning to drugs or alcohol for help.

The program was developed for teenagers who are experiencing:

  • depression
  • thought disorders
  • post traumatic disorders
  • anxiety disorders
  • suicidal thoughts and/or attempts
  • substance abuse or
  • other emotional problems

Our Program Continuum

The Trillium Center offers the following psychiatric care options for adolescents:

  • Acute Inpatient Care which addresses acute problems of a critical nature with highly structured programming
  • Partial Hospitalization which allows teenagers to receive specialized treatment and school five days a week while living at home.

Treatment Components

Treatment for each adolescent is administered by a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals led by a psychiatrist.  Team members may include:

  • Psychiatrists
  • Psychologists
  • Social Worker/Therapists
  • Recreation Therapists
  • Certified Chemical Dependency Counselors
  • Nurses
  • Teachers

The treatment plan focuses on attainable short-term and long term goals established with input from the teenager's family and the referring professional.  Substance abuse treatment follows the 12-step philosophy providing continued support for the adolescent and his or her family. Family participation is a vital component of adolescent treatment and effective communication.

Qualified teachers communicate with each patient's school to coordinate individualized appropriate curricula throughout his or her stay.

Getting Help

We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to respond promptly to calls or walk-in inquiries.  A free assessment may be scheduled at any time.  An intake professional will identify presenting problems and, with physician consultation, match patient needs to appropriate care within the Baptist Health Corbin system or with other community resources.  We provide the help with obtaining effective and accessible treatment services, as well as consultation regarding financial options.
