Special Services and Amenities for Surgical Patients and Families
At Baptist Health Corbin, we know how stressful the thought of an operation can be for our patients as well as their families. That's why our surgical center provides amenities designed to ease those anxieties and concerns.
Patient Education
When you come to Baptist Health Corbin for pre-surgical testing, a registered nurse will teach you what to expect when coming in for surgery. Your physician will provide specific information about the type of surgery you are having and your recovery.
Family Waiting Room
As an added convenience to families, Baptist Health Corbin has a family waiting room for surgical patients adjacent to the surgical care unit where patients have surgery and recover from surgery. Pay phones and restrooms are available. The hospital provides coffee for families. Vending machines and a Gift Shop are located on the first floor in the Paul Parker Pavilion.
Private Conference Room
Patient confidentiality is a key concern at Baptist Health Corbin. We provide a private conference room next to the surgical waiting room for families who wish to speak with the physician confidentially.
Just for Kids
Baptist Health Corbin's volunteers provide stuffed teddy bears for children having surgery. The teddy bears comfort the children prior to surgery. We allow parents to wait in the pediatric holding area with their child until the time of surgery. We also allow a parent into the recovery room as soon as the child begins to wake up from anesthesia.
Centralized Scheduling
Scheduling procedures and surgeries is more convenient than ever before for your physician, because Baptist Health Corbin offers centralized scheduling. With one phone call, your physician can schedule necessary pre-operative tests and your surgery. If you aren't sure about your surgery time, you can call 606-523-8573.
