Radiology Services
- Diagnostic Radiology. All general radiology services (x-rays and fluoroscopy) are offered. The hospital recently opened an all new digital multipurpose room that allows us to perform regular fluoroscopic exams as well as interventional angiography procedures much more rapidly with less radiation exposure to the patient. The room does not use conventional x-ray film, but stores information digitally on a computer and is later hard copied on a laser printer. We have also opened an all digital multipurpose room that allows us to perform conventional x-rays as well.
- Nuclear Medicine. We provide the latest technology available, including a nuclear cardiology exam. In addition, one of our physicians is licensed to administer Strontium 89, a radioactive material used to treat cancer patients with painful bone metastases.
- CT Scans. Baptist Regional Medical Center has recently purchased the latest diagnostic imaging technology form Philips Medical Systems. The new Brilliance CT is a computed tomography scanner (sometimes referred to as a "CAT" scan), that produces crisp, detailed images of the body in mere seconds. Computed tomography is a valuable tool used to help diagnose life-threatening illnesses including cardiovascular disease that is the nation's leading killer. The possibility of discovering heart and vascular disease at an early stage, before the onset of serious symptoms, helps doctors recommend the most effective treatment options and lifestyle changes to patients. This advanced volume coverage CT scanner provides crisp, clear images of the body and helps doctors quickly assess a patient's risk of coronary heart disease, as well as provide a less invasive diagnostic option. Also, with the new CT scanner, we have the ability to perform bone densitometry measurements, used to evaluate patients for osteoporosis.
- Ultrasound. We offer a full range of diagnostic studies, including obstetric and gynecological studies.
- Breast Diagnostic Services, including digital mammography and ultrasound. New R2 ImageChecker for early breast cancer detection is now available.
- MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) Services.Baptist Regional Medical Center provides Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) services at the Outpatient Diagnostic Center, located at 60 Bryan Boulevard, Suite 100, Corbin, KY.
- PET/CT Scan Baptist Regional Medical Center has a mobile PET/CT scanner that comes to the facility once a week. PET/CT is the most advanced medical imaging technique available today, combining Positron Emission Tomography with Computed Tomography. PET/CT combines the fine structural detail CT with PET's ability to detect changes in cell function. This combination allows for earlier and more accurate detection of disease than either CT or PET alone. It also helps the physician diagnose a problem, determine the best approach to treatment or monitor the patient's progress.
