Cardio Vascular Outpatient Unit
New Opening of Cardio Vascular Outpatient Unit
This is the first phase of our expanding Cardiac service line. The Cardio Vascular Outpatient Unit (CVOU) is located in the old infusion clinic area and can be accessed from the double doors by our Emergency Department or through the hall by radiology. There are five beds which will be utilized for all outpatient cardiac caths, pacemaker generator changes and interventional nephrology cases. The department is staffed with two cath lab trained RNs who will admit and discharge all cardiac patients who do not require an overnight stay.
Always mindful of keeping the patient at the center of everything we do, our new process is simple. The patient arrives at the facility and completes their registration. A CVOU nurse will go to the patient waiting in the Paul Parker Lobby, the patient's family will be shown the radiology waiting area while the CVOU staff assist the patient into a gown, start the IV and have labs drawn. The family is then brought to the patient in the private room while the admitting process is completed. A cath lab staff member will then escort the patient and their family to the lower level where the patient procedure will be performed. Once completed, the patient and family are again escorted back to CVOU for the recovery and discharge.
