Pre-Surgery Class for Total Joint Replacement Patients

Baptist Health Corbin offers a pre-surgery class for patients preparing for hip and knee replacements to better prepare them for surgery and their return home.

The free class is offered one week before the scheduled procedure. Patients are encouraged to bring a spouse or friend who will be their coach and assist for caring for them after surgery.

In the class, patients learn what to expect before, during and after surgery; medications; how to get around and care for themselves; and preparations for returning home. They also receive an educational booklet to use as a reference.

For convenience, class attendees can have their necessary preadmission testing performed that day, including lab work.
