Support Groups



Baptist Health Corbin has compiled a list of support groups for individuals recovering from addiction to alcohol; cancer patients; caregivers; heart and stroke patients; diabetes; HIV; individuals with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's; and victims of rape.

  • Alcoholics Anonymous for individuals and families recovering from addiction. Meetings held every day at 12 noon and again at 8:00 p.m. at the Old Corbin Recreation Center located at 509 Barbourville Street, Corbin, KY. For additional information, please call (606) 528-0233. 
  • Alzheimer's Support Group receive support, education and new information about Alzheimer's disease.
  • American Heart Association - the nearest American Heart Office is located at 210 Malabu Drive, Lexington, KY 40503.  For information, please call (800) 242-8721
  • American Red Cross located at 208 Broad Street, London, KY 40741. For information, please call (606)878-6333
  • Baptist Health - Community Cancer Support Group Meeting.  The first meeting will be on February 12, 2013 and then every second Tuesday of the month thereafter.  Meetings will be held in the Baptist Health Cancer Care, 1 Trillium Way, Corbin, KY.  For more information, please call Lisa Gomez at (606) 523-1934 or Joyce Brown at (606) 528-1212 extension 8504.
  • Cancer Hotline sponsored by the National Cancer Institute, the Cancer Hotline provides free information and support for cancer patients and their families. Call (800) 4-CANCER or (800) 422-6237
  • Cancer Survivor Support Group provides education and emotional support for individuals and families. Meetings held first Tuesday each month at London Baptist Church.
  • Caregivers Support provides emotional support and education for families coping with caring for loved ones. Meetings held every third Tuesday each month at 6:30 p.m. at Baptist Health Corbin. For additional information, please contact Kelly Hooker at (606) 528-1212 extension 1060.
  • Corbin-Whitley Domestic Violence Council. If you or your children have been threatened or assaulted get help today.  Call Dana Brown, Victim's Advocate, at 606-392-1101.
  • Diabetes Smart You Can Do It! which teaches diabetics management skills to care for themselves, thus improving blood sugar control and overall quality of life; and meets two times a month every other week at Baptist Family Fitness.   • Diabetes Support Group - Type I is a support group specifically for Type I diabetes.  For information about the meetings, please call Sherry Goodall at (606) 231-3896.  
  • Diabetes Support Group provides education and emotional support for individuals and families coping with diabetes. Meetings held second Monday each month. For additional information contact Linda Mills, RN, at (606) 523-8549. 
  • Domestic Violence - Corbin-Whitley Domestic Violence Council. If you or your children have been threatened or assaulted get help today.  Call Dana Brown, Victim's Advocate, at 606-392-1101.
  • Family Caregiver Support Group Meeting at The Heritage Nursing Home located at 192 Bacon Creek Road, Corbin.  The first meeting is April 23rd at 2:00 p.m.  Call Kathy Willis at 606-526-1900 for additional information.
  • HIV Support Group provides emotional support, education and new information. Meetings are held at Cumberland Valley District Health Department. For additional information, please contact Pat Wagoner at (606) 864-4764 extension 121.
  • Look Good....Feel Better Program for cancer patients.  These sessions will be offered each month on the 2nd Monday of the month at Baptist Health Corbin.  Please contact Kathi Adams at 606-523-8734 or the American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345 for more information.. 
  • Mended Heart provides support for individuals and families who have suffered from a heart attack or stroke. Meetings held every third Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Marymount Hospital. For additional information, please contact June Rollins at (606) 877-3839. 
  • Mesothelioma Cancer - Mesothelioma is diagnosed in 2000 to 3000 people in the United States each year.
  • Mesothelioma Center - offering the most current information on Mesothelioma cancer
  • National Multiple Sclerosis Society has begun a Self-Help Group to provide support for individuals and families suffering from multiple sclerosis. This group meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall located at 303 West 5th Street, London, Kentucky.   • Parkinson's Support Group provides information and support for those living with Parkinson's disease. Meetings held second Monday each month at 1:30 p.m. For location information, please contact Nellie Reed at (859) 299-0804. 
  • Rape Crisis Center offers emotional support and education for victims of rape. Meetings held at the Cumberland Valley Comprehensive Care Center every Monday. For additional information, please contact Betty Jordan at (606) 528-7010 extension 251. At night, call (606) 864-2104
  • Rape Survivors Support Group meets every Wednesday evening from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at 3110 Cumberland Falls Hwy., Corbin, Kentucky.  All women welcome. Call 606-523-2520 for directions.
  • CareLiving provides private online support for caregivers, family members and stroke survivors.  Caregivers can join at www.stroke.org/careliving
  • Tri County Cancer Coalition serves the Whitley, Knox and Laurel county residents wh have needs relating to cancer.  In Whitley County, the contact number is 606-549-3380; Knox County is 606-546-3486; and Laurel County is 606-864-5187.  The meetings are held at various locations on the second Tuesday of the month at 12:00 noon.  Please call for the location near you.
  • Tri County Cancer Support provides emotional support, education and new information for individuals and families.   • Tri-County Family Support Group offers support for families with children, up to age 8, who have disabilities. The group meets at Christian Appalachian Project on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. CAP is located at 201 Industrial Blvd. in Corbin.   • Reformers Unanimous is a Christ-centered addictions program that directs the addicted back to God's support group - the local church. This ministry directs those who are bound by the chains of addiction, to the One who can truly set them free, Jesus Christ. The local Reformers Unanimous group is located at New Zion Baptist Church in Williamsburg, Kentucky. The national headquarters is located in Rockford, Illinois. We have a complete curriculum and staff prepared to help the addict. Meetings are held on Friday nights from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 11:a.m. To learn more about this program click here or call 606-515-1200.
