  • Body Recall, a safe, tested program of gentle exercise and movement developed for the living longer population.

Body Recall

Body Recall exercises are designed to reclaim the variety of movement and the strength that help to make living pleasurable.

The dictionary says to recall is “…to call back, to remember, to restore, and to revive.  A summons to return, and to remember things learned or experienced.”  Body Recall is a refresher course in how to perform correctly the skills with which we are already familiar.  It is a review of movement we once used when we felt more vigorous and had the vitality of youth.

In the Body Recall program, the mechanics of everyday activities such as walking, climbing stairs, descending stairs, sitting, and standing are explored for their worth in contributing naturally to daily physical maintenance.  Full joint mobility is explored in postures that are conducive to successful effort.  Attention to gravitational force as a natural assistant in strength development and muscle tone is fundamental in Body Recall.  Classes provide an opportunity to learn how to take full charge of the physical equipment we have and bring it to full potential.

Body Recall is a challenge to do more with what we have.  It is for everyone: the overweight; the athlete; the diabetic; those recovering from operations, illness, and injury; the heart patient; those in nursing homes or in wheel chairs; and especially for those who are sedentary.

Body Recall is a program that meets 3 times a week for 45 minutes to 1 hour.  Community Health Services offer these classes free of charge.
