God Bless America...Land That I Love
God has given us the greatest Nation on the face of the earth. We have just celebrated our Country’s independence and our Country’s birthday. We are a blessed Nation.
Reading the Old Testament book of Deuteronomy chapter eight I see many parallels between how God dwelt with the Nation of Israel and how God deals today with our own Nation of America. There is a great similarity because Israel was chosen by God to be a special witness to all the nations of the earth. God had a special purpose in mind for Israel.
In our generation God has chosen America to be a Christian Nation, to be a light to all the nations around us. We are not like the other nations of the world. We are unique and separate.
God promised the children of Israel He would bring them into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains, a land of wheat and barley. It would be a land where they would not lack anything. He told them they were to bless “The Lord thy God” for He is the one who gave to them.
We have much to be thankful for. We should be thankful for the flag of our great Nation and it’s thirteen stripes which stand for the thirteen original Colonies and for the fifty stars that represent the fifty states of our Republic. We should be thankful for the orange groves of Florida. For the dairy farms of Wisconsin. We should be thankful for the landmarks of America, the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park.
Right here where we live we ought to love the beautiful mountains and lakes surrounding our region. The farm lands with vegetable gardens and a beautiful variety of flowers and trees. I believe with all my heart God had a hand that was directing the founding of America. I believe America was planted by God.
We are blessed to have wonderful school systems in our tri-counties. Many new facilities recently completed and several under construction. Our children are receiving the very best in education, equipping them for the days ahead.
Every person in this part of the state should be grateful for Baptist Regional Medical Center. God has blessed us with a beautiful facility with the very best in technology and personnel to meet health care needs.
I am most thankful and grateful for our military. No nation in the history of the World has known such strength as we have in our men and women who defend this nation. We should be grateful and pray everyday for them.
Winston Churchill said “Gentlemen, never give up, never, never give up” May we always be grateful and never give up on America. ….I love America….God bless America
